Stop Sliding Snow Before It Shears Your Roof Vents

A VentSaver is a snow diverter that mounts on the roof above a vent pipe, flue or chimney pipe and splits sliding snow around it — so the moving snowfield can't bend, shear or rip the penetration out of your metal roof. Two models, EZ and HD, ship from Paris, Ontario in Canadian dollars.

Why vents fail in winter

A Moving Snowfield Doesn't Go Around Your Pipe

The shear

When a metal roof releases, tonnes of consolidated snow slide as one sheet. A plumbing stack or flue in its path bends flat or snaps off — often invisibly, under the snow.

The slow creep

Even without a slide, the snowpack creeps downslope all winter — bending pipes a few millimetres at a time until flashings tear and the boot leaks.

The real cost

A sheared vent isn't a pipe problem — it's a roof leak, an attic moisture problem, and for gas appliance flues, a venting hazard. The diverter costs less than the service call.

A diverter protects the pipe — retention holds the field

VentSavers split sliding snow around a single penetration. To stop the slide itself — over doors, decks and gas meters — pair it with SnoBar® rails or pad-style snow guards. Most roofs need both, and one warrantied layout covers it all.

Quick answers

Vent Diverter Questions, Answered

What is a vent pipe snow diverter?

A wedge-shaped guard mounted upslope of a roof penetration. When snow slides or creeps down the roof, the diverter splits it to either side of the pipe instead of letting the full force hit it — the same way a bridge pier parts river ice.

Do I still need snow guards if I install a VentSaver?

Usually, yes — they solve different problems. The VentSaver protects one penetration; rails or pad-style guards hold the snowfield so it never avalanches over your eaves at all. We spec both together in one warrantied layout.

Which mounting plate do I need?

Standing seam roofs take the clamp-on standing seam plate (no holes in the panel); exposed-fastener roofs take the screw-down plate (HD) or pair the no-plate option with existing retention. Not sure? Send a photo with your quote request and we'll confirm.

Will it fit my pipe size and roof pitch?

The EZ covers typical residential stacks; the HD handles larger flues and chimney pipes. Include your pipe diameter, what it vents (plumbing, gas appliance, wood stove) and roof pitch in the quote form, and we'll match the model and mount before you order.

Do you ship VentSavers across Canada?

Yes — every province and territory, from our warehouse in Paris, Ontario. Prices are in Canadian dollars with stock already in Canada: no duties, no brokerage, no border delays.
