Sliding snow doesn't go around a chimney — it slams into it, tearing flashing, cracking crowns and bending vent stacks every winter. The VentSaver Extreme is the biggest, heaviest-duty guard in the VentSaver line: a mill-finish aluminum riser fin on a double mounting base, set just uphill of the pipe or chimney to slice the moving slab and steer snow and ice around both sides.

What the VentSaver Extreme chimney snow protector does

On a sloped metal roof, snow lets go as one heavy slab, and a pipe or chimney in its path takes the full hit. The Extreme's vertical fin — the same fin used on the VentSaver HD — splits compacted snow and ice while wider lower wings spread it around the penetration. Two mounting bases and twelve heavy-duty roofing screws give it twice the fastening strength of the other VentSaver models, which is why SnoBlox-Snojax positions it for severe winter weather.

• Top Wing Kit — the optional Upper Wing Kit adds a 12 in upper wingspan to shield the upper section of taller pipes and chimneys, raising the standing profile from about 14 in to 32–34 in
• Screw Down Mounting Plate — Model 12-24 SD plate for exposed-fastener / screw-down metal roofs
• Standing Seam Plate — Model 12-24 SS plate that clamps to the seams, no seam penetrations

Use a plate when the pipe lines up with a roof seam, or when there is no structural wood under the panel to screw into.

How to install the VentSaver Extreme on a metal roof

• Mount the fin up-slope of the pipe, as close to its centreline as possible, so the slab is split before it reaches the penetration.
• Screws must embed at least 2 in into solid wood — add blocking between rafters if needed, or use a mounting plate.
• Run the two steel cables around the pipe and lock them with the cable locks; seal every penetration with silicone.
• Not for roofs hit by snow dropping from unprotected upper roof areas — guard the upper roof first. Wide chimneys may need more than one unit; ask for a layout.
