Why your metal roof needs snow retention

When a metal roof lets go, it lets go all at once — the whole snowfield moving as a single sheet. That roof avalanche is what rips gutters off their hangers, flattens shrubs and railings, and makes the path to your own front door dangerous. Retention doesn't fight the snow; it pins the field so it melts in place.

Black on dark panels

UV-stabilized black polycarbonate keeps its colour the way the clear Deuce keeps its clarity — no chalking or fade through years of summer sun, no brittleness at −40 °C. The geometry is identical to the clear Deuce: a tall forward face to the snowpack on a wide waffled bond base. Want other tones? Specifications

Installation at a glance

• Plan the layout first — rows start 300–450 mm (12–18 in) up from the eave, staggered across the panel flats. We provide this free (below).
• Clean each bond area with the included prep wipes; the panel must be dry and above ~10 °C (50 °F).
• Apply SB-190 to the waffled base, press into position, and leave undisturbed while curing.
• Install in summer or early fall so the bond reaches full strength before snow loads the roof. Winter close? Use the screw-down Deuce instead.
