Screw-Down Snow Rail System for R-Panel / PBR Roofs (9"–12" Flats)
This SnoBar® screw-down kit is designed for mechanically fastened R-Panel metal roofing with 9" to 12" flats. The system is built around a heavy steel bar and ColorBracket™ mounts that help stop snow and ice from sliding under the rail—reducing the need for separate ice stoppers.
- Controls snow release: Helps reduce sudden slides that can threaten people and property below
- Bracket acts as IceStopper: Helps interrupt snow/ice movement under the bar
- Structural fastening matters: Brackets should anchor into purlins/decking—avoid “rib stitch only” installs
- Layout is critical: Under-designed systems carry a higher risk of failure
Not sure how many rows you need? Send roof pitch + rafter length + a photo of the panel and we’ll recommend spacing.
Engineered for Strength: Heavy Bar + Smart Bracket Design
🏗️ 6' Galvanized Bar Kit (Complete)
Kit includes the 6' bar, mounting brackets, installation hardware, and end caps for a finished system.
- Includes: 6' bar, brackets, fasteners, end caps
- Use case: Snow retention on screw-down metal roofs
- Result: Controlled release vs sudden roof avalanches
🧊 ColorBracket™ Doubles as an IceStopper
Bracket geometry helps stop snow and ice from slipping underneath the bar.
- Benefit: Helps interrupt snow/ice flow under the rail
- Why it matters: Reduces reliance on separate ice stoppers
- Planning: Layout + proper anchoring are still essential
⚙️ Patented “Drop-In” Bracket for Fast Installation
Installs without feeding parts down the length of the bar—faster, cleaner, more repeatable installs.
- Fast install: Drop the bar into the bracket
- Watertight help: Brackets include a foam sealing pad
- Options: Tall bracket standard; Short bracket available for lower ribs
Installation Guidance (Anchor Into Structure)
Always secure screw-down snow rails using brackets fastened into structural support below (purlins/decking)—not just the metal panel. Avoid folded steel panels stitched only to ribs; the panel skin is not designed to carry retained snow loads and improper attachment may lead to leaks or roof damage.
- Best practice: Fasten brackets into purlins/decking/structure
- Seal correctly: Use quality screws with neoprene washers + sealing pads
- Design matters: Under-designed systems carry a higher risk of failure

SnoBar® Screw-Down FAQ (Canada)
Does installing snow rails by screwing into the roof increase leak risk?
If installed correctly, leaks should not occur. Use screws with neoprene washers and pair them with foam gaskets. Some installers optionally outline ColorBracket bases with a bead of neutral-cure cold-weather silicone, but it is not mandatory.
What does GatorShield® galvanized mean?
GatorShield® galvanizing is an enhanced zinc coating (50% more zinc than traditional galvanizing) designed for superior corrosion protection. It can also be painted or powder coated with minimal preparation.
Do the ends of the SnoBar have weather-tight seals?
Yes. The system uses end caps to seal the bar ends for a clean, finished look and to help keep out pests and the elements. If field cuts are required, extra end caps are typically used to finish cut ends.
Is pre-drilling required?
No. The fasteners for the screw-down rail system are self-tapping. Make sure you select the correct option for wood purlins vs metal purlins.
Can I use this only above a doorway?
No. SnoBar® is not designed for partial roof areas (over doorways, chimneys, vents, or isolated sections). Upper roofs must not be allowed to shed onto lower areas with snow rails installed.
