Why double bar
A single rail anchors the snowfield at the eave zone, and for many roofs that's enough. When the snow load climbs or the roof above sheds a heavy slab onto a shingled porch, garage or addition, the pack can get deep enough to ride over a single bar. The second rail catches that upper layer — two lines of defence on every bracket.
